Classmates

I would like to hear from a few folks, Ted Warner especially.

I have had little contact with any classmate since graduation.

I am a maritime lawyer in Norfolk, Virginia. I have four children and I am married to Doris Tabb Warman.

I was lucky not to be drafted. I went to New York Maritime Collge and received a USNR commission on graduation. I fulfilled my military obligation by sailing in the merchant marine. I sailed on commercial vessels as a third mate for 2 years and went all ove rthe world. I then went to law school at GW. I have been doing nuts and bolts admiralty work in Norfolk for 35 years.

I was in the Navy reserve for 30 years and retired as a captain to my own amazement. Frankly, I was lucky again.

I have had a few interesting cases including a treasure case, the Central America. My partner and I represented Columbia University in an effort to recover part of a 1-200 million dollar treasure from an 1857 shipwreck. We lost.

I had a case involving 10,000,000,000 cocoa beans (150,000 bags) for Norfolk Southern Railway. We won.

I had a case with a shipload of coal that spontaneously combusted. We won.

I have a case now involving 15,000 tons of steel from Spain. I do not know if we will win or lose.

I have my share of wins and losses but most cases came out about right and I have made lots of friends and done some good travel on the way. Some of my very best cases have been representing people with little matters and helping them solve the problem. I still play mediocre tennis.

One son is a prosecutor. My daughter works on defense intelligence matters. One son has been in the movie business and my 14 year old is in 7th grade.

My life has been most fortunate based mainly on good luck and being in the right place at the right time.

My beautiful wife is a homemaker.

I hope to hear from a few of you. I was mostly a wall flower in high school but I have done ok since.
